Writing for Resilience

Shifting our attention from the busyness of our day-to-day lives, we bring our focus to the present and to what matters most. We reflect, discuss, write and share. Our writing remains private. What we share, if we wish, is our experience – what we noticed and learned; what we wonder about.

We enhance resilience and well being through our writing. The prompts are  designed to strengthen a mindful connection with our inner selves and allow private expression of our deepest thoughts and feelings. The group’s structure naturally creates supportive connections with others.You’ll find all this and more in each Writing for Resilience workshop.

You get to focus on your writing. There’s no need to figure out what to write about or how to get yourself started. Plus you get the best of both worlds: writing privately, but in the company of others.

I facilitate:

  • A brief meditation to bring our focus to the present moment
  • An insightful discussion of our topic
  • A writing warm up
  • Writing time
  • A supportive exchange about our experience with the writing

We meet online using zoom.us.

No prior writing experience or skills are needed. This is personal writing. You are the only audience.

Four Wednesday Evening Events – 5:30PM-7:30 PM, Eastern Time

  • January 23rd, 2019 – Connect with Your True Self: Reflect and connect with your true self – your deepest thoughts and feelings, the person you are and the person most want to be. From this deep connection flows our hopes, intentions and plans for the coming year, and our ability to do what matters most!
  • April 24th, 2019 – Forgiveness Starts with Me: Forgiveness is tough for many of us, often  because there’s something we’ve been unable to forgive ourselves for doing.Through our writing we’ll explore ways to release the burden of unforgiveness toward self and others.
  • July 24, 2019 – Writing for Times of Change and Transition: We’ll use the Seasons of Change Spiral to identify where we are in a change in our lives, and then explore how to move positively through the change spiral based on where we are at present.
  • October 23, 5:30PM-7:30 PM – The Six A’s of Mindful WritingUsing a progression of 6 writing prompts, we’ll mindfully explore a question or experience of immediate importance to us.

  • May 22, 2019Giving My Blessing: Blessing others is a way of sharing our legacy – what we want to share from our own lives to help those we care about live their best lives. We’ll discuss this, and write a blessing of our own sort, that  we wish to share with someone we care about.
  • June 26, 2019 – The Difference I Make: What is the difference you want to make in the world? Our discussion and writing focuses on standing in our power, and how alignment with our inner selves – our deepest beliefs and values – fuels us in being the difference we want to see in the world.
  • August 28, 2019 – (Re)Discovering Satisfaction In Our Work: Service-oriented professionals, those who put so much time, energy and care in what the offer others, are burnout prone. Discover how to strengthen compassion satisfaction as one way to “burnout proof” yourself.
  • September 25, 2019Finding and Sharing Real Hope: We’ll discuss and write about what we mean by hope, what brings us hope, even in difficult times, how we share hope with others.
  • November 20, 2019Expressing Gratitude: Is there someone to whom you wish to express your deep gratitude? Whether that someone is yourself or someone else, we’ll discuss  gratitude and write to express it in a whole-hearted way.
  • December 18, 2019 – Sharing Our Gifts with The World: What are my most treasured gifts, and how am I sharing these gifts with those around me? Our focus will be on identifying, claiming and sharing our gifts.
